The Dub Club at The Echoplex - April 1 2009

Lucent Dossier at The Edison - April 1 2009

LUCENT DOSSIER presents their weekly Wednesday illuminating performance at THE EDISON. Jesca Hoop at The Hotel Cafe - April 1 2009

War Tapes at The Smell - April 1 2009

WAR TAPES rocks the stage at THE SMELL.  With the dark edgy vocals and multi-layer lyrics of frontman of Neil Popkin, soothing backing vocals of bassist Becca Popkin and the powerful driven hooks of guitarist Matt Bennett, War Tapes successfully create epic anthems of angst, blending the attitude and edge of today's post-hard-core scene with an appealing nod to 80's new-wave and post-punk sounds of The Sisters of Mercy, The Mission and The Cure. Lynhurst at The Knitting Factory - April 1 2009

SAINT JOHN AND THE REVELATIONS bring their cool indie fold sound to the stage of THE MINT.  Saint John has experienced much in his life and musical journey over the years and the lyrical and emotional depth of his music reflects this. Tuesday Shine at Little Temple - March 31 2009

Bill Purdy at Room 5 Lounge - March 30 2009

The Bird and the Bee at the Broad Stage - March 29 2009

THE BIRD AND THE BEE spread some musical magic at the BROAD STAGE in Santa Monica.  The Bird and the Bee is a great indie/pop/alternative musical duo from Los Angeles, consisting of musicians Greg Kurstin ("bee") and Inara George ("bird").  Inara and Greg met while the two were working on her debut album and they decided to collaborate on a jazz-influenced electro pop project when they discovered their common love of jazz standards.  The final product was a unique and amazing mix of electronica, pop, jazz and 60's Brazilian influences.  You can check them out online at www.thebirdandthebee.com and www.myspace.com/thebirdandthebee.  The show starts at 7:30pm with tickets available at the box office or by phone at (310)434-3200.  The Broad Stage is located at 1310 11th Street in Santa Monica and online at www.thebroadstage.com.

FUNKY SOLE breaks it down at THE ECHO. L.A.'s longest running dusty beat driven world funk party relocates to The Echo every Saturday. Originally sparked at legendary Silverlake spot Rudolpho’s back in 2001 as a way for founders Music Man Miles, DJ Clifton AKA Soft Touch and a newly arrived from the Eastside DJ Egon of Stonesto share the raw funk music crawling out their crates with folks in LA. The night truly became the place where you would hear sounds not found in any other part of the city and many times they would be the first time ever being played in LA. Chris Anthony at The Corey Helford Gallery - March 28 2009

CHRIS ANTHONY holds his opening reception of "VENICE" at THE COREY HELFORD SPECIAL EXHIBITION SPACE in Los Angeles.  Chris Anthony (www.chris-anthony.com) is an internationally recognized photographer who was awarded the 2007 Grand Prize in American Photo’s Images of the Year Competition for his “Victims & Avengers” series, which was shown in its entirety for the first time at Corey Helford Gallery in January 2007. He has worked on commercial projects including rock photography and directing music video and commercials for numerous clients, including Sony Playstation 3 and “The Black Parade” for My Chemical Romance.  For his third solo show with the Gallery, Anthony creates an extraordinary world in flux where the moody tides of fact and fiction converge. As globalwarming causes ocean levels to rise and the melting of Antarctic Ice sheets, a mysterious sinking civilization is unveiled, entitled “Venice”. Ms. Triniti at Zabumba - March 27 2009

THE GIRLIE GIRL CATFIGHT throws down at the EL REY THEATER.  From the weirdos that brought you Lucha Va VOOM (www.luchavavoom.com) come the Girlie Girl Catfight a first of it's kind show where you see the best catfights from the movies brought to life by beautiful, skilled girl wrestlers.  Think Bond girls of old in spirited, sexy combat then add aerial artists, host Jeff Davis and the wonderful Brandon Johnson and and you have what can only be described as a trailer for a surreal 60's movie that was never made. No one has ever put on a show featuring the perfect kind of female wrestling; the girlie-girl FUN kind.  Here's what it's NOT: It's not like any kind of female wrestling icky porn wrestling that's out there, not the permed, leotard clad punch-fests.  Here's what it is: All girl/girl Catfighting Cuties, Live Swordfighting Pirate Ladies, Eye Poping Glamazons, and one word... The Soul of John Black at Cozy's in Sherman Oaks - March 27 2009

Big Willie's Burlesque at The Edison - March 26 2009

BIG WILLIE’S BURLESQUE SHOW headlines the THURSDAY LIVE MUSIC night at THE EDISON in downtown LA. Located in the basement of the original Los Angeles Edison Power Building it is a cool time warp to the 1930’s – 50’s. The Edison feature several lounge areas with furniture and spaces created from some of the original power plant machinery, background music and media visuals from the roaring era, and live dance acts throughout the night. The Ditty Bops at The El Rey - March 26 2009

Emily Wells at The Troubadour - March 26 2009

Brett Dennen at The House of Blues - March 25 2009

Gaby Moreno at Cafe Muse - March 25 2009

The Proclaimers at The Hotel Cafe - March 24 2009

THE PROCLAIMERS play a special acoustic evening at the HOTEL CAFE.  Craig and Charlie Ried the Scottish songwriting duo better known as the Proclaimers have once again set out to take the music scene by storm as they are fresh from recording their new studio album 'Notes & Rhymes' in Wales during February/March.  Following early success on the strength of their blend of pop and politics, the brothers Reid – Charlie and Craig– have reached the rarefied status that few have been able to achieve: with nearly three decades of career longevity, the band are as innovative as ever.  With every album and show played, they’ve garnered new fans, all the while consistently replenishing one of the most precious resources in music – thoughtful pop albums.
