WAR TAPES rocks the stage at THE SMELL. With the dark edgy vocals and multi-layer lyrics of frontman of Neil Popkin, soothing backing vocals of bassist Becca Popkin and the powerful driven hooks of guitarist Matt Bennett, War Tapes successfully create epic anthems of angst, blending the attitude and edge of today's post-hard-core scene with an appealing nod to 80's new-wave and post-punk sounds of The Sisters of Mercy, The Mission and The Cure. This is LA based band who is fresh off a successful cross-country tour with Tiger Army is one to keep an eye on as an up and coming breakthrough band and definitely worth checking out when they hit the LA Scene. You can listen to them online and get info on their future gigs at www.myspace.com/wartapes. There will be additional music performances by LacoSte (www.myspace.com/lacoste) DonniePepper (formally of Mikaela's Fiend), Moment Trigger (www.myspace.com/momenttrigger) and Bloody Robots (www.myspace.com/bloodyrobots).
